I always wonder what goes through a grandparent’s mind. I know that most of them are filled with wisdom and knowledge. What are they thinking when they give you a big hug or are buying you presents? I also know that a grandparent’s mind has heard it all before. No lame excuses with them. A retired grandparent has all the time in the world to condition and exercise their mind. They see the world around them and know, in their minds that it is changing; for better and for worse. A grandparent will may see something about you that they don’t like such as a haircut, but will never say anything. Although you may not know this: a grandparent is one of the best sources of information. Sure, their style of sharing that information may not be the most thrilling, but they do have that knowledge that only time can give.

If I was old I wouldn’t care what people thought of me. I would say what I want when I want. I would watch the world change around me and remind others of how it used to be. People would pick my brains for advice and knowledge. I would yell at the newspaper and newspaper. If I saw something that confused me I would make no attempt to understand it. I wouldn’t need a cane but I would have a long and pointy one that I would use solely for poking. I wouldn’t have a license to drive but I would drive anyway. I would be able to cook but I never would; I’d leave it up to somebody else. I would never sit down but instead pace up and down barking orders like a drill sergeant. People would find me frustrating. Just the way I like it.
